The Wediko School and Treatment Program was established in 1989 and is located on 450 acres of land in southern NH. The School & Treatment Program can serve as many as 38 residential students and 9 day students, ages 6 – 21, males only. Working to return students to their home and community, Wediko utilizes multi-disciplinary teams, individual treatment plans, and a strength-based approach to design treatment interventions. Wediko maximizes the therapeutic treatment by building collaborative partnerships with each student’s family, school, and outside agencies. The process may be completed in a matter of months or require Wediko to remain involved with the student and his family for an extended period of time.
Students at Wediko have a primary educational identification of Emotionally Disturbed (ED) or some other designation identifying their primary educational handicap as a function of a psychological or behavioral problem. Many of our students also have multiple handicapping conditions as part of their special education coding. For secondary codings, students are most often identified as Other Health Impaired (OHI) and Learning Disabled (LD). These categories cover a multitude of problems typically related to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Mood Disorders. Following this, we have students with primary or secondary DSM diagnoses related to Learning Disorders, Motor Skills Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Attention Deficit and Disruptive Behavior Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorders and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders. Many of our students have serious problems relating to their primary caretakers or serious problems related to abuse or neglect.
